ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of family ownership on company performance with an independent commissioner as a moderating variable. The independent variable used in this research is family ownership. The dependent variable used in this study is company performance. The moderating variable used in this study is an independent commissioner. This research was conducted on consumer non-cyclicals sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2018-2021. The data in this study uses secondary data. The sample of this research is as many as companies within a period of four years, so that as many as 264 research data are obtained. The sampling technique in this study was purposive sampling. The data analysis used was moderating regression analysis and data processing using the Eviews 9 program. The results of this study indicate that family ownership has a positive effect on company performance. Meanwhile, the independent commissioner moderates as the moderating variable has a significant effect on company performance.
