ABSTRACT

In an effort to increase the number of investor, it is likely to cause behavioral
biases in novice investor when making investment decision. The biases of investor
financial behavior include heuristic, prospect theory, and herding. The aim of this
study is to prove whether heuristic, prospect theory, and herding have an effect on
stock transaction decisions. The object of this study are students of the Islamic
Economic and Business Faculty of IAIN Surakarta with the criteria that they have
made stock transaction at least twice.
This study used quantitative research methods with purposive sampling and
questionnaires as the instrument of this study. There are 93 respondents as the
sample of this study. Then the data was processed using the 22nd SPSS app version.
The result of this study shows that the heuristic variable and prospect theory
partially affect the investment decision of the students in stock transaction. While
the herding variable has no effect on students investment decision in stock
transaction.
